Fire Boats And Rescue Boats
Built at AMC’s Shipyard in Cowes, Isle of Wight (UK), the 'Barracuda' fire boat is the first build of a new generation of fire boats which has been specifically designed and built to respond at high speed. Built for Angloco Ltd and supplied to the Guyana Fire and Rescue Service, Barracuda is the first completed fire boat build in AMC’s new fire fighting line and is in working operation on the Demerara River.
The 14m fire boat delivers a speed of up to 32 knots, requiring a 1.5 Meter draft and supplies up to 4,500 Litres of water per minute from three water jets ranging up-to 120 Metres, and also carries a full set of fire-fighting equipment to tackle marine-based emergencies. The fire boat has been commissioned to protect a 10-mile stretch of the river against fires on a route that is host to large commercial activity including industrial and food import/export, and the storage of petroleum products. It will also carry out search and rescue missions and is equipped with accommodation for two stretchers in case of medical evacuations.
